• Amplify their students’ engagement in the classroom.

The PD centers on STEM learning for Grades K-8, with cross-curricular connections and strategies adaptable for all levels. Options for school- or district-wide participation available. Educators and families who are homeschooling or supporting learning pods are also welcome to join.

The Science Mill is known for its innovative approaches and expertise in hands-on and inquiry-based STEM learning. We believe that kids learn science by doing science, and we’re here with actionable, adaptable tools to help you spark that curiosity in your curriculum.

Through our unique, interactive exhibits and programs, we’ve developed strategies with a proven track record to increase students’ engagement and confidence in STEM and their interest in future STEM careers.

Our online professional development is divided into 4 main content areas:

• Force, Motion, and Energy

• Engineering and Design

• Life Sciences

• Earth Sciences

Each content area is then divided into specialized modules for teachers that teach in the K-2, 3-5, or 6-8 grade bands. Each module covers TEKS-aligned vocabulary, engagement tips, and relevant STEM careers. There is also a lesson plan included in each module that teachers can use in their classroom!

Additionally, there is a bonus module, “Inquiry in STEM Education.” That is open to all teachers and educators, regardless of grade band. This module covers the fundamentals of inquiry-based science education, constructivism, and what it means to be an effective and engaging inquiry-based STEM teacher. This module does not include a lesson plan and can be purchased separately or in addition to the other PD modules.
