The annular solar eclipse is October 14th, so we’re kicking off Homeschool Day learning everything about eclipses! Students and guests will learn about eclipses and space through special floor activities and learning labs, such as creating emergency eclipse viewers, physical and data models of the solar eclipse, and more!
FLOOR ACTIVITIES
Eclipse Viewers - Guests will create their own emergency eclipse viewers that they can use during the upcoming annual solar eclipse on Oct. 14th
Eclipse Modeling Activity - Guests will create a physical model of a solar eclipse and then use data sets to graph the different phases of a solar eclipse
Fizzy Moon Painting - Guests will experiment with baking soda paint and vinegar to create their own fizzy moon paintings
Mars Rover Activity - A mission to Mars! Transform a robot into a rover that surveys conditions, collects samples, and navigates the terrain of the Red Planet. This activity will be facilitated by our Community Partner, Girlstart. Girlstart is a national women-led organization committed to increase girls’ interest and engagement in STEM.
