  • Science Mill 101 South Lady Bird Lane Johnson City, TX, 78636 United States (map)

Spring is here, and it's the perfect time to unleash your creativity and curiosity at the Science Mill! Join us for Spring into STEAM, a vibrant, hands-on event where science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) collide. Explore our interactive exhibits and dive into exciting hands-on activities that blend the best of art and science.

WEEK 1 (MAR 8-13) ACTIVITIES

Spring Thaumatropes - Explore the idea of persistence of vision through the creation of a thaumatrope. This visual illusion occurs when the human eye continues to perceive an image even after it briefly disappears.

Ozobots, Roll Out! - Code using markers! Ozobots have a color sensor on the bottom that senses the different color inputs on the path. The Ozobots have been programmed to perform various outputs in correspondence to the different color combinations.

Make Your Own Harmonica - Groove to the rhythm of your own curiosity! Design and play your very own harmonica-like instrument made from household items and explore sound science.

WEEK 2 (mar 14-23) Activities 🌼

Flipper Bots - Test your hand-eye coordination and creative thinking with our EZ Robot Flipper Bots. Can you flip your opponent’s bot or push them out of the arena – before they do?

Pendulum Painting - Let nature paint! In this activity, guests will see patterns created by a spherical pendulum and predict how mass affects its swing and pattern.

Make Your Own Harmonica - Groove to the rhythm of your own curiosity! Design and play your very own harmonica-like instrument made from household items and explore sound science.

Imagination Unboxed: A PROPer Costume Party - Can you transform cardboard to transform you? For this month’s Imagination Unboxed, showcase your creative and engineering skills by creating fun costumes out of cardboard.
