Exploring Extreme Environments

Saturday, June 25, 10am-4pm

From the deepest ocean to outer space, what does it take to survive in extreme environments? Find out at the Science Mill’s Exploring Extreme Environments event on Saturday, June 25!

  • What’s it like to live in space? Catch presentations by former NASA astronaut (and Science Mill Board Member) Col. Tom Henricks!

  • Design a home for yourself on a new planet in our Cardboard Challenge: Mars Colony

  • Fly drones through a wind obstacle course to see how scientists track storms

  • Chase epic storms in special screenings of Tornado Alley 3D

Plus: Students in grades 3-8 can join our Learning Lab: Extreme Under the Sea. Travel beneath the waves to the extremes of the ocean floor. There, in the darkness and under crushing pressure, amazing sea creatures have adapted to life along underwater hot springs. Create a model of one of these hydrothermal vents and design a sea creature with adaptations to survive in this extreme environment. (Registration required, $5 per student)

All activities except the Learning Lab are included with General Admission.
