Travel back to the time of dinosaurs at Jurassic Experience on Saturday, May 29! This all-ages day of dino activities celebrates the grand opening of Jurassic Flight 4D, our new 4D virtual reality experience that lets you explore a prehistoric world as a soaring pterosaur.
Activity Stations run from 10am-2pm, unless otherwise noted:
Jurassic Flight 4D: Soar, glide and dive as a pterosaur through a prehistoric world in this immersive, full-body virtual experience. Timed tickets available upon arrival at the admission desk; spots are limited! (Please note: an arm span of at least 48 inches - or approx. age 7 and up - is needed to operate the motion board.)
Step into the Jurassic: Who’s been stomping around our silos? Follow the footprints outside, then learn how to calculate the size of the dinos who made them.
Fossil Dig: Unearth dinosaur bones and other fossils buried beneath the sand—including some special “mini dinos” that you can take home!
Meet real raptors: Did you know there are living dinosaurs? We just call them birds! Meet dinosaur descendants—including owls, kites and other raptors—from Austin Wildlife Rescue.
Tortoise talk: Tortoise ancestors lived alongside dinosaurs about 240 million years ago! Learn about these dinosaur cousins and meet our African spurred tortoises and a few surprise guests. Check with the front desk for talk times.
Put together a pasta dino: Using pasta “dino bones,” little paleontologists can assemble a fossil skeleton. (Visit our Toddler Area, too, for photo-op fun with inflatable dinos!)
Digital dino hunt: Digitally dig for fossils using augmented reality cubes. Find the complete skeleton and the dinosaur comes to life in your hand!
Flying Monsters: If dinosaurs ruled the earth, pterosaurs ruled the sky. Discover some of the wildest flyers to ever live through fossils and jaw-dropping digital recreations. Showing throughout the day in the Theater.
Dino treat: First 100 guests receive a free dino treat from Lady Bird Lane Cafe! Cafe is open 10:30am-2:30pm; picnic tables available in our pecan grove.
Take home dino fun: No need to dig here: our Science Store is stocked with unique dinosaur toys, kits and books for a variety of ages.
