Homeschool Day is moving full STEAM Ahead in March! This month, we explore the relationship between art and science with colorful and artful STEM projects in our learning labs and floor activities.
FLOOR ACTIVITIES
Shaving Cream Marbling - Students will learn about the science of color mixing by creating their own shaving cream marbled masterpieces
Pendulum Painting - Students will understand Newton’s 1st Law and see how gravity affects the inertia of a moving object. They will see patterns created by a spherical pendulum and predict how mass will change the swing or pattern of the pendulum.
Solar Prints - Students will see how UV light from the sun can leave lasting impressions on us by creating their own solar prints!
LEARNING LABS
Grades K-2 & 3-5 Cloudscapes - Students will learn about the water cycle and how clouds are formed. Students will paint their own cloudscape paintings. Separate sessions for K-2 and 3-5
Grades 6-12 Tantalizing Tessellation - Students will learn about the different types of repeating patterns called tessellations and fractals. They explore and create tessellations by using different forms of media.
STEM MENTORSHIP HOUR
Ozobot Town - Students will use the artwork of Olalekan Jeyifous as inspiration to imagine and create a futuristic city
