Peter Vancorenland, Ph.D
From a young age, Peter has stuck to his motto "You don't own it until you opened it up to see how it works”. This led to a lifetime of learning and discovering, as well an interest in STEM education.
After completing his Masters and Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, Peter started his career in semiconductor design. He has held several Senior Engineering Management positions in which he designed a variety of mass-produced semiconductor products and built consumer and commercial solutions in the IoT (Internet of Things) space.
Most recently, Peter joined Knowles Corporation as the Senior Vice President of R&D where he leads the teams building MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) microphone products which are used in smart phones, smart speakers, smart watches etc. Knowles Corporation, located in Chicago, is a company highly committed to advancing the growth of women in the workplace and diversity in engineering careers.

Besides electronics, Peter also has an interest in mechanical engineering, ranging from car repair ("Hit it, and it may work again"), all the way down to the precision work of automatic watch repair ("Hit it, and it definitely won't work again”).
Peter lives in Austin with his wife Ann and their two children Xander and Annalies. The whole family shares his passion for science.
